Correct Garbage Disposal Using Disposal Units
In simpler terms, garbage refers to any kind of waste that is unwanted and cannot be used again. Most garbage usually comes from the kitchen whereby it is generated through cooking and other activities. Garbage is formed from leftovers that remain behind after eating and by inedible parts of food. In order to maintain hygiene, one has to dispose this waste properly. Garbage disposal units, also known as carburetors, are thus installed beneath the sink. The main purpose of these units is to shred any food wastes either inedibles or leftovers into smaller pieces. Carburetors also help to get rid of any stinking odour produced by the waste disposed. Throwing hard items into the garbage disposal unit should be avoided at all times. One should avoid throwing items such as hard nuts, mussels, coconut shells, crab shells and shell fish into the carburetor or disposal unit. These kind of wastes should instead be disposed in trash cans. Throwing them in the carburetors will reduce its efficiency and performance over time.
Sticky or starchy items should also be avoided at all times. Some of these wastes include potato peels, egg shells, banana peels, coffee and tea extracts among others. Disposing these items will leave stains on the disposal units as they are not expelled properly since they stick to the sides. The carburetor may end up deteriorating since the stains are hard to remove.
In addition to eliminating household waste, garbage disposal units help to reduce wastes used as land-fill. One should however ensure that their sink is big enough to accommodate the garbage disposal unit before purchasing it. Regular maintenance of these units by cleaning is important. One can simply do so by running clod water through the system in order to prevent blockage from happening. Blockage of the units can be caused by disposing stringy items such as flower stems which should be greatly avoided.
Waste disposal units are great additions to one’s kitchen as they are very helpful. After purchasing these units, one should get into contact with a qualified electrician or plumber in order to install it properly. Cleaning out disposal units doesn’t take long as it is easy for one to do. One can run cold water through the system as soon as waste has been processed. Filling it with ice cubes will also play the trick and adding some salt then turning the unit on till each ice cube has been processed. Elimination of debris or sludge that has accumulated can thus be achieved.
Orange or lemon peels can be used to get rid of foul smell from the garbage. It is important to find the right garbage disposal unit in order to ensure proper garbage disposal.
